See that big green monster up at the top? It's a country I didn't even know existed, but that is where we will be starting tomorrow night, and for approximately 783 nights in a row after that. For now we are in the relative luxury of a Holiday Inn in Georgetown. I'm going to take about 4 showers and a couple of baths in this little tub here because they may be the last I get until our servitude is up.
Melissa and I signed up for Peace Corps last year and finally after so long in the application process, endless paperwork, and thousands of dollars in medical stuff, we're off to do our stint, change the world, make Peace our mission, and maybe eat a goat's eyeball.
I'm feeling a mixture of anxiety and relief, because all of our goodbyes are said, our stuff packed, and the wheels are in motion. Now I just hang on for the ride and do what they tell me to do. I don't know really what to expect in Kazakhstan, but I'll keep you posted as I can. Internet contact will be much more sporadic than it was in Japan, but we'll get some pictures up and let you good folks know how and what we're doing in a couple of weeks.
